The Reds knocked around the Indians and completed the series sweep on Thursday afternoon.

Though many of the Reds players were suffering from flu-like symptoms, everything went according to plan all series long. On Tuesday, Johnny Cueto pitched a complete game and the Reds won 7-1. On Wednesday, Latos went seven innings, Marshall handled the eighth and Chapman got the save. Reds 5, Indians 3. On Thursday, Leake seemed to still be under the weather and only lasted 4 2/3. Arrendondo, Simon, Hoover and LeCure each got work in and the Reds won 12-5.

All series long, Phillips couldn’t be stopped. He finished 8/13 with 7 RBI. Hopefully the trend continues; he tweeted that he intends on “taking a bite out of the big apple” this weekend against the Mets.

This is my favorite highlight of the series. Mesoraco intentionally runs into the catcher in a pickle between third and home. Priceless.

  • Stubbs has been out 10 days now and doesn’t look like he’ll even take batting practice till Saturday. In hindsight, it doesn’t make sense that he didn’t go on the DL, but who did they have to bring up? No one who’s been hitting, that’s for sure.
  • Chris Heisey left the game in the 4th inning on Thursday with some tightness in his groin. Hopefully it’ll be okay tomorrow.
  • Mesoraco also left the game on Thursday with pain in his side. He thinks it was just a cramp from dehydration.
The Reds begin a three-game series with the Mets tomorrow in New York. Fortunately, they’ll miss the Mets two best pitchers, R.A. Dickey and Johan Santana.
