Reds win extra inning woo-fest

The Reds won 4-3 in 14 innings in a game that started on Joey Votto’s birthday. On “Bark in the Park” night, fans and their dogs got a little punch drunk and were howling in unison as the game time approached five hours. The game ended after five hours, 22 minutes on an infield single by Ryan Ludwick scoring Devin Mesoraco.
• I tip my hat to the bullpen, especially Alfredo Simon. Simon loaded the bases before recording an out but worked himself out of the jam in the top of the 14th.
• Despite the win, the offensive struggles continue: the Reds amounted 8 hits in 48 ABs, were 2-for-10 with RISP and left 13 on base.
• Aroldis Chapman was pulled in the 10th as his velocity was nowhere near normal. Dusty told John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer that the team is concerned but Chapman had no pain and was probably just fatigued.
• Wooooooo!
